June 01, 2021 TaxiTimes reports on the launch of the prototype plant
The TALAKO research project has taken a step forward: The prototype facility developed for extensive testing on the premises of Auto Stephany GmbH in Mülheim an der Ruhr has gone into operation. With the commissioning, the first vehicle has also been converted to inductive charging technology. In the coming weeks and months, LEVC's converted TX must now demonstrate how the technology can be put to good use.

May 31, 2021 TALAKO research project: commissioning of prototype plant
We are pleased to announce that the prototype system has been put into operation in real use at the cab company Auto Stephany GmbH in the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr (in its private yard). So the first vehicle with inductive charging technology is on the road. At least five more will follow on the "large" pilot installation in the city of Cologne.
For the Chair of ABWL & International Automotive Management of Prof. Dr. Heike Proff at the University of Duisburg-Essen, it is equally gratifying that with the commissioning of the prototype plant, another inclusive LEVC range extender vehicle is thus also making mobility more ecologically and socially sustainable on the roads in Mülheim.
May 06, 2021 City of Cologne promotes inductively chargeable e-taxis for participation in the TALAKO project.
At its meeting on May 6, 2021, Cologne's Transportation Committee approved a purchase subsidy for the acquisition of four e-taxis equipped with inductive charging technology. In this way, the city is securing the implementation of the TALAKO research project of the University of Duisburg-Essen and numerous project partners.

October 21, 2020 Current publications of research results
In the meantime a lot has happened again and two publications can be reported as part of the research project:
Bijan Shahbaz Nejad, Peter Roch, Marcus Handte, Pedro José Marrón: A Driver Guidance System to Support the Stationary Wireless Charging of Electric Vehicles. 15th International Symposium on Visual Computing, ISVC 2020, Springer, 2020.
Peter Roch, Bijan Shahbaz Nejad, Marcus Handte, Pedro José Marrón: Systematic Optimization of Image Processing Pipelines Using GPUs. 15th International Symposium on Visual Computing, ISVC 2020, Springer, 2020.

August 13, 2020 Interim result: With the help of a neural network, the vehicle position is detected
Even if the construction of the TALAKO prototype system has not yet been completed due to Corona, the tests for vehicle positioning at the University of Duisburg-Essen are already in full swing. For the tests, an artificial neural network was trained on various vehicle characteristics. In addition to the wheels, this also includes door handles, mirrors and headlights. Using the relative position of the recognized features, the position of the vehicle in space is calculated in a subsequent step. So that the system can analyze several images per second even at high resolutions, the calculation is parallelized using a conventional GPU.
